What’s New at VIA

Welcome Karen Waanders – Heart Connections/Volunteer Coordinator

  We are delighted to welcome Karen Waanders to Volunteers in Action.  Karen will help VIA expand our Faith in Deed Program and lead the Heart Connections Program which works with Rowan Community to place volunteers with residents who get very few visitors, are lonely and asking for a volunteer visitor.

  Before joining VIA in May 2022, Karen was a librarian in an elementary school for 16 years.  Prior to that she managed the health care needs of seniors in the Denver community.

  Karen and her husband, Jeremy, have 3 adult children and enjoy vacationing in the Colorado mountains.  Karen loves to read, visit with friends and family and take long walks.

  Karen is excited to work for an organization that makes such a tangible difference in the lives of people in our community by sharing Christ’s love through connection with Christian volunteers.
